Nothing restores calm, brings clarity, reduces stress, or eases loneliness like empathy. In this class we will learn practical empathy – how to listen and reflect in a way that lets the other person feel truly heard and understood.
“Empathy Companions” are friends who meet by phone, online or in person on a regular basis to listen deeply and without judgment to each other. In our interfaith setting, partnerships will be formed to meet outside of class, where participants may share and receive empathy about our lives, our faith and our doubts, and give witness to one another’s prayers.
Bring a friend or partner or come on your own to learn and practice clear strategies for effective empathetic listening, and start a mutual-care and shared prayer practice which could change your life. Empathy heals.
