Solstice and Equinox: Celebrating Seasonal Liminality!
Summer Solstice
June 21, 2022 10:00 am – 4:30 pm
We are children of the sun, the daystar that makes all life possible, as we travel in the icy darkness of frozen space.
Edward Hays
Come for the day: 10:00 – 4:30 or stay overnight for a full experience of the natural sanctuary that the Christine Center offers. The sun lingering and waiting for the festival of fire.
A day of retreat and holy ritual honoring the liminal turning of the season offered at the Christine Center with Rosalie Hooper Thomas, and old and new friends.
Rosalie Hooper Thomas, is a trained and experienced spiritual director, creator of rituals, drummer and leader of ceremonies.
During this longest day, we celebrate sacred union. The earth flowering and giving forth fruit under the rays of the sun. We explore and celebrate the union within us of the human and divine and honor the sacred union in relationships. The day will include conversation, silence, meditation, movement, and of course, a closing ritual of chanting and drumming.
Join us for optional Christine Center Morning Meditation in the Chapel at 8:45.
The Solstice ceremony begins at 10:00 with an opening ritual where we speak our intentions for this day and draw together our circle. We then move out for personal reflection, creative expression and stillness on the land. Resources for creative expression will be available. We return to our circle at 2:30 for a closing ceremony celebrating our gifts that have emerged from our hearts. We will dance and drum and sing in gratitude and peace.
Those who wish can join the Christine Center 5:00 pm Silent Meditation in the Chapel.
Bring a drum if you have one, and anything you might wish to include in a personal solstice ritual. Bring fruits, vegetables or a special plant to represent the fullness of the earth. Do bring an item to place on the altar that will hold the energy of the ceremony and will go home with you when we are complete.
Grounded in the St. Hildegard Soul-Studio for the Creative Arts and Ritual, we may meet in the Meditation Hall depending on our numbers.
