Joanne Nelson is the 2017 winner of The Peninsula Pulse’s Hal Prize in nonfiction. Her writing appears in the museum of americana, Midwestern Gothic, Redivider, Brevity, Consequence, and others. She is a contributor to Lake Effect on 89.7 WUWM, the local NPR affiliate. In addition, Nelson gives presentations on topics related to meditation, writing, and creativity. Nelson lives in Hartland, Wisconsin where she develops and leads community writing programs and maintains a psychotherapy practice. She holds an MFA from the Bennington Writing Seminars.
