Contemplative Practices for a Disorienting World

June 12-14, 2026

with Shane Tytenicz

Many of us sense that we are living in a time of deep change. Familiar ways of being no longer hold as they once did, and what is emerging is not yet fully clear. These in-between times can feel disorienting, but they also carry the possibility of transformation.

Program Highlights

    • Gentle introduction to the practices of Centering Prayer, Lectio Divina, and the Ignatian Examen
    • Meaningful experiences of each practice, with group conversation to deepen insight and understanding
    • An immersive experience of contemplative community
    • Inspiration for carrying these practices into your home, work, and way of life

Across centuries, contemplative practices have helped people meet such thresholds. Again and again, they have served as steady companions in times of upheaval, opening the way to deeper wisdom, grounded presence, and new ways of being. They are here for us now as well.

This experiential retreat will introduce you to three contemplative practices that, especially when woven together, can support you in living with greater clarity, depth, and groundedness in a changing world. As you engage these practices, you will be invited to listen more deeply for how your own life is being shaped in this moment, and how you may help bring forth a more life-giving way of being in the world around you.

If you have longed for a more contemplative way of living, working, and being in community, this retreat may offer a meaningful place to begin.

Licensed to provide counseling in IL and WI, he currently is enrolled in the Spiritual Guidance Training Program at the Siena Center in Racine, WI. Shane and his wife Luciana reside in Lake Bluff, IL.
