Receiving: Opening to What Is Already Here

The Spiritual Practice Rarely Taught. Recognizing and Receiving God’s Gifts.

November 20-22, 2026

with Julie Bassett

Through meaningful conversation, contemplative practices, time in nature, creative expression, and gentle experiential activities, we will explore receiving as a spiritual practice and begin to notice the ways we may unknowingly resist what is already being offered to us.

Together, we’ll explore what it means to receive love, kindness, support, beauty, rest, joy, and God’s abundance with greater openness. Through shared discovery, small-group conversation, and a nature-inspired eco-art experience, participants will be invited to look at receiving in new ways and consider how this practice might become part of everyday life.

Rather than striving for more, we will practice noticing more: becoming more awake to what is already within us, around us, and being offered to us.

What if receiving is more than something that happens to us? What if it is a spiritual practice: one that helps us become more awake to the love, beauty, kindness, support, joy, and abundance already present in our lives?

This weekend offers an invitation to slow down and explore what it means to receive with greater openness, gratitude, and trust – recognizing what is already here and what may already be trying to reach us.

Your Guide for the Journey

Julie Bassett

For more than 30 years, my work has centered on bringing people together and creating spaces where connection, learning, and a sense of community can take root. I’m a certified Ayurvedic Coach and longtime facilitator and educator, and I have designed and led full-day women’s wellness retreats in nature. My approach is spiritually inclusive and inter-spiritual, drawing wisdom and practices from a variety of traditions rather than teaching from any single religious framework. I’m also a speaker and the Founder and President of Together for Taft, a nonprofit devoted to preserving and reimagining a nature-based campus for education, community, and connection. Across these different expressions of my work runs a common thread: creating spaces where people can slow down, reconnect with themselves, one another, nature, and the Sacred, and experience a deeper sense of belonging.
