Join Brita Rekve and Wayne Manthey for an immersive retreat experience combining ancient wisdom with hands-on craftsmanship. This transformative workshop weaves together foundational shamanic teachings and practices with hands on crafting of your own deer skin frame drum. Explore the worlds oldest spiritual practice through understanding the shamanic worldview and becoming familiar with the heartbeat of shamanism; the drum. By listening to the voice of the drum, you’ll enter a a rich world of benevolent helpers who are waiting to commune with you. Brita will guide you to the lower world to meet your spirit helper, your power animal. This introduction to Shamanism will show you the way to journey and how to develop a deep connection with nature.

Deepening your connection with nature gently but profoundly changes who you are. As you learn to listen to the rhythms of the land, the weather and the living beings around you, a sense of separation softens, and is replaced by belonging. This relationship fosters humility, patience, and clarity, reminding us that we are part of a larger web of life, and that true wisdom often arises from quiet attention and respect for the natural world.

Retreat Guide

Brita Rekve, Christine Center facilitator, shamanic practitioner, artist, retired social worker says, “Spirituality and creativity are twin sisters I like to hang with. Knowing one, I know the other. Retiring from a career in social work and hospice I started messing up all my good clothes while teaching intuitive painting and the making of spiritual art. I am a long time student of core shamanism with a focus on the Nordic and Celtic traditions. Sharing shamanism as a spiritual path is deeply exciting. Everyone comes to the circle with fresh curiosity, courage, and a unique way of listening to the unseen. Learning to journey provides us with insights and moments of connection that remind us this ancient practice is alive and continually renewing itself.

Drum Making Guide

Wayne Manthey; master drum maker with decades of experience leading students in the drum making process says “The healing properties of a drummer found in the elements that make it: wood and animal hide. Making personal frame drums is a journey that is individually and spiritually meaningful. Teaching drum making classes involves storytelling and introspection. The drum symbolizes the heartbeat of life, the heartbeat of the community. It is not simply an art form, but a tool for cleansing, centering, and focusing ones intentions for health and happiness”
