March

I had no idea this was such a magical place. Just driving up, all the heaviness I was bringing with me started to dissolve. I felt like a little kid exploring all the different communal spaces and feeling safe as I walked under the stars at night. Safe. That’s how I feel here.

Easter: An Inner Passage of Renewal

April 2-5, 2026
With the Christine Center Community

Easter is not only a story we remember. It is a movement within us.

During these days of Holy Week, we will enter the quiet arc from letting go to new life. Through guided meditation, contemplative prayer, and shared reflection, we will walk gently with the themes of surrender, trust, and rising. The Easter story becomes a mirror—revealing where something in us is ready to soften, to open, to begin again.

What in you is seeking renewal? What longs to be restored?

There are not enough positive adjectives in the English language to describe the Christine Center itself. Kind, safe, cozy, trusting, loving, etc, etc. I always want to come back. Love meditation in the chapel with sister Johanna. The grounds feel so sacred and peaceful. I love to walk in the woods.

Opening to Pure Awareness: the Path of Meditation

May 31–June 7, 2026
with Susan Mickel

Begin a path of meditation or deepen your existing practice with this guided introduction to cultivating awareness. Awareness is always with us, but we don’t notice it in the constant flurry of thoughts and experiences.

You’ll learn ways to settle the mind’s activity, which then gives us the ability to look at how our minds create our world. For each of us, from the constant flow of seeing and hearing, thought, emotions, in the mind, our version of the world comes into being. As we create the space to notice awareness, we can begin to shift the way we approach asking, “Who am I?” As we become less attached to fixed ideas about ourselves and the world, compassion naturally arises for ourselves and others.

Turning inward, we discover another cosmos to explore: the power of story, imagination, and the values that shape our lives. This retreat invites participants to reflect on the beliefs and insights that form an inner compass, guiding choices and opening pathways to fulfillment. Through perennial questions—What is my story? Where is my calling? What nourishes me and gives me hope?—we’ll engage the life-shaping forces within. Together we’ll explore how unexamined stories influence the way we live, and how we might choose to shift, create, and carry new ones forward.
